ADI/PDI Training
Welcome fellow ADI's and PDI's, I hope you are all having a blast teaching. With so much to learn being 2 days in, 2 months in or 2 years in, it's fair to say there is always loads to learn. One thing for sure is, it's a blast and hope you're enjoying teaching as much as I am. With masses of experience and still learning to this day, one thing I feel will help the most is those Q&A's. Where, what and when to say things. I've put together a few videos which could help start you off. I've also included a PDF with loads more questions depending on the lesson you are teaching. Some questions you can ask wherever and whenever, some other questions you'll have to be a little bit more specific with it. See below and have fun. Any questions please visit the contact page and drop me a note. I'll be more than happy to help. But one again, thank you so much for choosing Drive Suite, happy teaching.

Questionable driving manoeuvres, raising safety concerns
Here we are looking at the red van getting ready to pull out and preparing the learner to plan and anticipate this move. You should also question if the van did the right thing with the moped quickly approaching. Giving live examples while on route is a very good tip for when you are teaching. Helps your pupil understand a lot more. We also observe the amber traffic light and wondered if we should have stopped instead of continuing.
Island Crossings and right of way
Here we look at the car in front of us turning into the new road and we are making your learner aware that we genuinely have right of way. Then we highlight the amber flashing lights on the island crossing. Mention hazards ahead of time so they are able to think and prepare in advanced. The pedestrian clearly thought we were letting her go because we slowed down too much, which can always be misleading. So you want to teach your learner to come off the gas and approach with caution rather than brake too much as the pedestrian will use this as a signal to cross.
Navigating behind larger vehicles
Here we discuss how to best drive behind larger vehicles, considering the type of vehicle and anticipating its potential actions. We also question if and when the vehicle stops, have a plan to overtake BUT only if it's safe to do so.
Approaching Zebra Crossing (Blind)
Here we discuss potential hazard ahead and how best to approach a blind zebra crossing. Because the bus is covering the crossing, the approach should always be with more caution. We also talk about whether it was the right time to start moving off? Notice the timing wasn't the best, so it was then a good opportunity to go over the rules of the zebra crossing so they are aware. Then finish off with the learner telling you how it should be done, so when they approach another zebra crossing, you will see your learner move off when they are supposed to.
